Teaching

Nurturing confident, curious and expressive musicians.

For Charlotte, teaching is a natural extension of performing—sharing not only technical skills, but the joy, curiosity and confidence that music can bring.

Charlotte has enjoyed teaching and mentoring young musicians throughout her career, working with students of all ages in both individual lessons and chamber music programmes. Her teaching experience includes instrumental lessons and chamber music mentoring from her home studio and at leading schools across Sydney, including Newington College, MLC School and the Sydney Conservatorium of Music High School. Drawing on her extensive performing career, Charlotte creates a supportive and inspiring environment where students develop confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of music.

Charlotte is excited to be offering 2026 holiday workshops for Blue Mountains junior string players to enjoy chamber music and ensemble playing. The Blue Mountains Junior Chamber Players workshop are held during school holidays in the mid-Mountains.

Today her private teaching studio is in Woodford, the heart of the Blue Mountains, Charlotte offers individual cello lessons for students of all ages and stages.

Grounded in the Suzuki philosophy and informed by many years of professional performance, each lesson is thoughtfully tailored to the individual. Whether learning for the very first time, preparing for examinations and auditions, or refining orchestral excerpts and solo repertoire, Charlotte’s teaching encourages confidence, creativity and a lifelong enjoyment of music.

Beginning Your Journey

For new students, hiring a quality instrument is the ideal way to begin.

Sydney String Centre offers an excellent rental programme, with instruments delivered directly to your home. After three months of hire, rental payments can be credited towards the purchase of a cello, making it an affordable and flexible way to start learning.

When the time comes to purchase an instrument, Charlotte is always happy to guide students in selecting a cello that suits both their musical goals and budget.

“Every musician begins with a single note. My role is simply to guide the journey that follows.”
